Python has been named Programming Language of the Year again
TIOBE has once again updated its well-known Index earlier this week, which measures the usage and popularity of programming languages.
Additionally, the company has named the Programming Language of the Year for 2024, and for the fourth time, Python has claimed the title. TIOBE awards this title to the language that has shown the most significant growth over the past twelve months, and last year, Python achieved an impressive 9.3 percentage point increase.

This growth nearly matches the total market share of the next two languages, C++ and Java, and is even greater than the absolute results of the C language, which ranks third. Python now wins the Programming Language of the Year title for the fourth time, previously taking the honor in 2021, 2020, and 2018.
The TIOBE Index results, compared to the previous year, show minimal change, except for Python's remarkable rise. Java, JavaScript, and Go gained a couple of percentage points, while C and C# language saw similar declines. The rest of the list shows less than a one percent change compared to January last year.
